Pop Critics Looking For Writers

Most of you who still visit this site know that I started a new site called Pop Critics and that I spend most of my time writing over there.

Well, I wanted to let everyone know that Pop Critics is actively looking for more talented and enthusiastic writers who can tackle some of the things we’re not already covering, or perhaps contribute new points of view to television shows or subjects we are already covering.

The truth is, Mike and Jason (myself) are only two, nearly mortal, people who work full time jobs and have families to take care of outside of Pop Critics.  We can only cover so many topics and review so many books and CDs and movies and recap so many television shows.  But we know that many of you are ardent enthusiasts of your favorite reality or scripted television show and you would love the opportunity to write about it on a regular basis.  Heck, maybe you already do write about a TV show on your own blog but just haven’t found the audience you’re looking for.  We can help.  Pop Critics can put your article in front of thousands upon thousands of people every day – people who will read your article, respond to your opinions, and maybe even visit your site.

We’re looking for people to cover all sorts of Pop Culture topics here at Pop Critics so drop us an email and let us know what you’d like to write about.  If possible, include or point to some writing you’ve done previously so we can make sure you can write in English.  Even if you’d just like to submit a single article, contact us and let us know.

There are a ton of shows coming up this summer on TV that we’d love to have recaps for, but Mike and I simply don’t have the time to cover them.  Reality shows like The Mole and Last Comic Standing are sure to bring in tons of readers.  You could be the one giving them the information they want and need!  Those shows don’t interest you?  That’s okay!  Pick a show, any show.  What’s your favorite show?  You can probably right about that.  Or maybe you’d rather write about books, or music, or even celebrity gossip.  We’re open to new ideas even!

Please note that we might not be able to respond to each and every request due to the number of people contacting us.  However, I can tell you that your chances are greatly increased if you actually use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation – even in the email you send us asking to write.  So make sure you put your best foot forward.  Oh yeah, and make sure you’re at least 18 or older because we can’t accept writers younger than that.

Keep in mind that we have high standards here at Pop Critics.  But don’t let that stop you from contacting us!  We want to hear from you!  Unfortunately, we can’t offer monetary compensation at this time, but if you’re looking to get your name and/or writing out in the public eye there isn’t an easier or better way to do it.  Pop Critics is growing fast.  Don’t miss your chance to get on board early!

If you’re interested you can visit our Write For Us page and fill in the contact information or you can visit our Contact page to get our contact info.

You can always drop us an email at one of the following two email addresses:

jason@popcritics.com

Be Sure To Subscribe To PopCritics.com!

Well, by now I’m sure most of you have either heard of or have visited the new site I started with Mike Olbinski called Pop Critics (PopCritics.com).  For those of you who have come over and become a part of Pop Critics with us, I hope you are enjoying it as much as we are loving bringing you the latest and greatest in entertainment and pop culture news.

I just wanted to post a reminder to those of you who haven’t yet subscribed to Pop Critics to come on over and add our RSS feed to your favorite reader. You can do so by clicking the link below:

Subscribe to PopCritics.com!

If you haven’t been over to Pop Critics yet, please check it out and let me know what you think! While you are there, go ahead and read our press release.

I really value all of you who faithfully stuck by and read this blog on a daily basis.  Believe it or not, this site was getting over 25,000 unique hits a month before the merge and my RSS subscriptions were growing daily.  I would love to see all of you subscribers to Inner88 also become subscribers to Pop Critics as I feel the new site will be able to provide you much better news, entertainment, and information than I was ever able to do on my own.  If you subscribe to Inner88 please consider adding Pop Critics to your RSS feed today as well.

All of you are important to me, of course, even those of you who just visited on a daily basis and weren’t subscribers. I love the interaction and feedback you all gave me here, so I’m hoping you follow us over to Pop Critics and join in on the fun.

This site will still be around and I will continue to post stuff on occasion, so you can always keep this blog in your RSS feed reader, but we really want to grow Pop Critics into an awesome site.  We need your help to do it, though.

Thanks for your support!  See you over at Pop Critics!

Jason A Clark and Mike Olbinski Join Forces To Form PopCritics.com

Announcing Pop Critics!

It was announced today that Jason A Clark, author of the entertainment blog, Inner88, and Mike Olbinski, author of the entertainment blog, A Mike Life, have joined forces to form Pop Critics (http://www.PopCritics.com).

Pop Critics was founded by the two aspiring writers after a chance online meeting grew into a friendship forged by friendly competition on the website BloggingZoom.com, a Digg like site designed to help bloggers promote their material.

What Is Pop Critics?

Pop Critics will be an entertainment hub, a central location, where readers can go for the latest in pop culture and entertainment news and notes.  Capitalizing on the popular features of each of their individual sites, Mike and Jason will offer their opinions, musings, and general feelings on news in the world of television, movies, books, music, and whatever else in the world of pop culture that tickles their fancies.

“For a while we were actually competing with one another, trying to beat each other to the biggest breaking stories or the hottest movie trailers.  But at some point we realized that we kept writing the same stuff – from almost the same perspective,” said Mike Olbinski of A Mike Life.  “It just dawned on us at some point that it made a lot more sense to team up and offer our readers twice as much quality and twice as much content with half as much work for us.”

Jason A Clark of Inner88 adds that “our blogs were just so close in nature, so parallel in subject matter, so cosmically aligned to the same topics and opinions, that one day we just felt like things would be a heck of a lot easier if we teamed up…you know, like Batman and Robin, or Laverne and Shirley.”

The two aspiring internet entrepreneurs have big plans for the future of Pop Critics.  Although the immediate future will be filled with merging content from their individual sites into the new site and creating new content, the dynamic duo eventually hope to bring in guest bloggers and possibly expand into other subjects.

“I don’t think you’ll ever see Pop Critics doing recaps for Rock Of Love or a movie review for The Hottie or the Nottie unless we’re making fun of it,” says Mike.  Jason interrupts to add, “What we do want is to bring our readers quality reporting on things they SHOULD be paying attention to today because they are the things the world will be paying attention to tomorrow.”

What About Inner88 and A Mike Life?

In the meantime, Inner88 and A Mike Life will stay active although most of the content relating to Pop Culture will now be posted on Pop Critics.  Most of the older relevant content on both sites will be redirected to Pop Critics.

How Do I Subscribe To Pop Critics?

If you are a RSS subscriber to either Inner88 or A Mike Life, please consider subscribing to the Pop Critics RSS feed so you will continue to get the quality content you have come to depend on.  You can subscribe via RSS by clicking here or by visiting the site and clicking the RSS icon anywhere you see it.  Email subscriptions are also available at the site.
