Obama Says He’s Been To “57 States”
I’m not sure what context this statement was made in other than what’s in the video. It doesn’t sound like he’s making a joke although I guess it’s possible. I would think that if he were joking there would be more than a few nervous chuckles from the audience. At any rate, it’s a little concerning to hear a probably Presidential candidate say something like this…especially after thinking about it first.
“Over the last 15 months, we’ve traveled to every corner of the United States. I’ve now been in 57 states? I think one left to go. Alaska and Hawaii, I was not allowed to go to even though I really wanted to visit, but my staff would not justify it.”
Wow… That's all I can say. Wow…
We should cut the man some slack. He probably meant he traveled through 47 states so far. Everyone misspeaks and has a brain fart when they are tired. How many hours of sleep do you think the man gets with his busy schedule? But it was funny that he said that with a straight face. A total Bush moment.
57 states in 15 months ? Ana is right. Wow is the proper word.

I think Mask Man is right that he meant to say 47. It is kinda funny, but it really sounds like he just made a mistake. Its not like he was talking about dodging sniper fire on his visit to the 57th state…
If theres 57 States then the flag in my office is out dated it's missing 7 stars.
This is quite disturbing and unsettling, I really hope he was just joking. I'm really looking forward to seeing who he's gonna choose as his running mate.
He must have been really tired. I hope he just mispoke. It sure didn't seem like a joke. The Alaska and Hawaii part sounded more like a joke. The 57 states sounded honest.
Yea, Obama has looked and sounded tired lately. I'm willing to cut the guy some slack though.
He said 57 states? I think Bush recently estimated there were 64 or so states in which a gynecologist can practice his love on women…winner Obama.
Its funny hearing the obvious supporters of the great Obama give him a pass. I agree that it was an obvious slip up between 47 and 57. Of course if Bush made the same mistake he’d be crucified. You guys are ripping Bush when Obama messes up. I am not a Bush fan by any means, I think he has been a poor President. But, lets rip Bush for his mistakes and Obama for his and not just give Obama a pass and use Obama’s mistakes as another reason to rip Bush.
